The Culture team runs The Assembly Hall Theatre (AHT), and, is about to open a newly refurbished building 'The Amelia Scott', both in the historic Town Centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells, just 55 minutes by train from Charing Cross.
The Amelia is an integrated service, combining cultural facilities such as museum collections, exhibitions and art galleries, alongside community engagement activities, library, adult education and council services. The Amelia is due to open in April 2022 and is an important addition for community engagement.
The Assembly Hall Theatre is a 1017 seat flexible, multi-disciplinary arts venue presenting mid-scale touring work; with an ambition to produce small-scale work in the medium to long term future. The AHT is housed in a Grade II listed building, with an annual subsidy of £300-400k per annum.
